Arts - Culture - Leadership - Education

“During the weekly after-school, and summer arts culturally responsive enrichment program children and youth–primarily Latino, a, e Latinx immigrants learn and teach culturally affirming arts and culture practices helping to empower the cultural identities of the communities we serve”.

“VROCC offers culturally responsive programming with a focus on 21st Century social-emotional and cognitive skills”

Our programs use a racial justice lens to uplift and celebrate our students’ rich and multifaceted cultural identities so that they can “express their fullest, most authentic selves” in a truly supportive environment.

Each period culminates with a showcase where students perform for their families and the general public interested in learning more about Latin American arts and cultural practices. Most of our students have the opportunity to perform at VROCC’s signature events and community partner events.

During the Leadership Council program, students participate in culturally responsive programming with a focus on 21st-century skills and social-emotional development.

Further, they learn through experiential project-based learning modules where they will set short and long-term goals, learn how to manage time and resources, design multimodal experiences according to community needs, and facilitate spaces for community engagement in an authentic way.

All our programs aim to inspire and empower Latino/a/x children, fostering their enthusiasm for STEAM subjects and encouraging them to pursue college degrees and careers in these fields. By doing so, we strive to diminish the prevalent economic and educational disparities in our communities.

VROCC programming includes folkloric dance, ballet, theater, latin and mariachi music classes, entrepreneurship, leadership and social emotional learning.
