About El Gran Mitote:
El Gran Mitote is part of a trend of Latin American rock bands that have sprung up recently in Boston and the surrounding areas. El Gran Mitote is the heir of a Latin American rock tradition that begins with groups such as the Mexican Maldita Vecindad and El Tri, the Chilean Los Fabulosos Cadillac and the Colombian Aterciopelados. This is urban rock, which lyrics express as diverse subjects as love and loss to social discontentment, drug abuse and police brutality. Lucho Jara, Guillermo Ortiz, Kevin Guerrero and Juan Pedraza are the talented members of this rock band that explores and combines the differences and similarities of rock with Latin American folk music.

About VROCC:
As a Latin American cultural center, VROCC seeks to both hold space for Latinos to engage in cultural activities and share space with people from other cultural groups who wish to learn about Latino cultures. We build social capital by supporting local professional talent providing a platform to showcase their work and by creating job opportunities for youth in the traditional arts and culture fields as well as supporting aspiring artists and arts entrepreneurs in the city. All are welcome to participate in the programs and celebrate in community.
