Meet Cantora Bania Cerda Medalla & Harp player Victor Manuel Navarro Arellano

Bania Cerda Medalla es es profesora y cantora conocida como “La comairita del Maipo”.

Sus primeros cantares fueron en su salón de clases como gran escenario y con una de las más prestigiosas audiencias “sus compañeros de clase” en su escuela.

Interpretando música tradicional chilena Bania “La comairita” ganó diferentes festivales estudiantiles y eventualmente integró diferentes grupos folclóricos entre ellos el grupo “Tierra chilena” donde se desempeñó como bailarina.

Con una trayectoria de 15 años llevando como estandarte la música folclórica chilena,

Bania ha participado en diferentes festivales y fiestas tradicionales y en “Medias lunas” en la zona central de Chile.

Ella cuenta con una producción musical de 12 temas entre tonadas, habaneras y cuecas y es discípula de Osvaldo Jaque, fue precisamente participando en el grupo Paillal de Osvaldo que conoció a las cultoras quedando encantada con la música tradicional.

Victor Manuel Navarro Arellano 

Victor Manuel Navarro Arellano es abogado y arpista. Comenzó su carrera artística desde muy pequeño gracias a las enseñanzas de su madre quien era una cantora, en su casa siempre estuvieron presentes el canto, la guitarra y el arpa.

A los 15 años Víctor Manuel comenzó su desarrollo como arpista de rodeo junto a Bania y desde entonces ha participado en diferentes grupos folclóricos como músico.

Su experiencia y su fama de buen músico lo ha llevado a acompañar a las más famosas cantoras de rodeo dentro y fuera de Chile. Durante todos sus años de colegio y universidad fue un estudiante destacado, desarrollando con excelencia sus deberes tanto en el colegio como en la música.

Actualmente continúa trabajando como abogado y sigue acompañando a las cantoras.

Bania Cerda Medalla is a teacher and singer known as “La comairita del Maipo”.

Her first performances were in her classroom for one of the most prestigious audiences “her classmates”.

Playing traditional Chilean music Bania “La comairita” won different student festivals and eventually joined different folk groups including the “Tierra chilena” where she participated as a dancer.

She has a 15 years artistic career performing Chilean folk music, Bania has participated in different festivals and traditional fiestas and the renowned chilean events  in the central zone of Chile called “Medias Lunas”

She has a musical production of 12 songs that include “tonadas, habaneras and cuecas”. Her artistic mentor Osvaldo Jaque Introduced her to his group  “Paillal” where she was introduced to Chilean Folk music and immediately got enchanted with it.

Victor Manuel Navarro Arellano

Victor Manuel Navarro Arellano is a lawyer and harpist. He began his artistic career at a very young age learning from his mother, who was a folkloric singer. Singing, playing guitar and harp were always part of his family life.

At the age of 15, Víctor Manuel began his development as a rodeo harpist with Bania Cerda Medal, since then he has participated in different folk groups as a musician.

His experience and his reputation as a good musician has led him to accompany the most famous rodeo singers in and outside of Chile. During all his years of college and university he was an outstanding student, excellently performing his duties both in college and in music.

Currently he continues to work as a lawyer and plays the harp for the singers in festival and folkloric events.
